In Part 1 of What Were They Thinking?!, we explored the cognitive biases that influence how we perceive information, interpret circumstances, and make decisions. The conversation was so engaging that one bias proved particularly difficult to overcome: time bias. We ran out of it!
So, Dr. Serne is coming back to finish the conversation.
Recognizing cognitive bias is an important first step—but awareness alone doesn’t prevent it from influencing our decisions. In Part 2, we’ll shift our focus from recognizing bias to mitigating its effects, exploring practical tools and strategies that individuals, teams, and organizations can use to support better decision-making.
Through discussion and interactive exercises, participants will examine how these mitigation strategies can be applied to real-world situations, including decisions made in the moment, investigations after an event, and organizational processes designed to support human performance.
